Thing is that I have pretty well all the main timbers I need for the framework, as well as the majority of the ply left over from the previous layout.

The thing of note is that the ply sheets in both non structural and structural types, are now in that reduced size, but I am sure I can get around it when the time comes.Colin Husseyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10166476334786660482noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5216086753528465773.post-11896163996051610902018-12-01T22:15:16.174+11:002018-12-01T22:15:16.174+11:00Now that's a good question. Over the time of ...Now that's a good question. Over the time of my modelling I have made one fairly golden rule and that is to set a time frame/era in what I am modelling. Much of that reasoning is based on the aspect that I worked with many drivers who worked in my era setting 1954 - 57, as much of that period had locomotives and train types that I also worked on from January 1964 till end of the steam era. I allows me to have early generation diesels and steam that worked in that period.

The other primary reason is that it removes temptations as to what I will/wont buy. I would say that the last 10 years have seen an influx of models that are easy to be tempted by, but having a tight budget it helps me big time to knock back, and not consider many models that come out. That is an area where accountability is needed.Colin Husseyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10166476334786660482noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5216086753528465773.post-5183473828314154282018-12-01T15:56:31.526+11:002018-12-01T15:56:31.526+11:00Does this mean you can only model early steam,with...Does this mean you can only model early steam, with the heritage listing ?BOLIVIAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04254781330698351532noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5216086753528465773.post-73364708380623306562018-11-30T10:41:53.990+11:002018-11-30T10:41:53.990+11:00Col,

It will be great to watch your progress over the next few years, but I agree, it will be almost impossible to get started before February without a massive reordering of priorities that usually gets someone else significantly offside.

I know we all have preferred construction methods, but noting your comments about ply sheet sizes, is it feasible to consider a more open frame construction approach?

cheers PhilPhil Whitehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14268733501548280685noreply@blogger.com
